Youth Football & Cheer
Western Dubuque Youth Football is a unified program serving players from kindergarten through 6th grade, with cheer for grades 3 through 6. Flag, padded flag, and tackle are all part of the same program, teaching the same fundamentals, terminology, and expectations players carry with them into middle school and high school football.
Our Mission
To provide the best youth football experience in the area for every participant, built on three things:
Character first. Players learn to compete hard, respect the game and teammates, and hold themselves to the standard Bobcat football is known for.
Fundamentals taught right. Players learn the game the right way, through sound technique, skill development, and coaching that pushes them to get better.
Every player developed. We invest in every athlete who shows up with effort and passion, whatever their skill level today.
Program Structure
Divisions are set by grade levels. Contact increases gradually as players move up, so equipment and physicality are introduced at a pace that matches development.
Cheer | Grades 3–6
Squads cheer at home and away football games throughout the season.
Kindergarten
1st / 2nd Grade
Flag Football
An introduction to the game. Players learn alignment, ball handling, and how a play develops, with no contact.
3rd / 4th Grade
Padded Flag Football
Games run under flag rules on Saturday mornings, with players in shoulder pads and helmets. The format keeps contact minimal while getting players comfortable moving in equipment before they reach tackle.
5th / 6th Grade
Tackle
Full 11-on-11 tackle in a YSF-sanctioned league. Home games are at Buchman Field in Epworth on Saturdays, with away games typically on Sundays. All 5th and 6th grade players participate in tackle.
Registration
Football requires two steps. A player is not rostered until both are complete.

Cheer registration is handled through YSF
